ARTIST STATEMENT
The “REMAIN” collection was inspired by the colour and plot of the movie Atonement (2007), from the British mansion in 1935 to the Dunkirk evacuation in 1941. The collection is told in flashbacks of the plot, starting by showing the festering war with the sense of despair that can collapse at any moment and ending with the spring-coloured summertime. The entire movie has an elegant British atmosphere, every single sense is like a colourful oil painting painted with plain, soft and pastel colours. The plot of the story, on the other hand, is exactly the opposite, and the entire story is heart-wrenching and depressing. I wanted to present the collection with a deeper meaning beyond the movie, the tragedy of war, and an anti-war message. The main purpose is to emphasize the cruelty of war and to encourage people to appreciate the peaceful spring period.
