ARTIST STATEMENT
This spring/summer 2023 RTW collection will focus on translating the motif of decomposition through the use of repurposed materials, creating a chronological display of the five stages over five looks. This collection is inspired by the “revival spiral” that is currently taking place in fashion. Placing a large focus on sustainability, the series will predominantly be produced with repurposed fabrics, beads and yarn to create unique, one-of-a-kind looks. The utilization of ‘found material’ to symbolize the essence of decomposition, will bolster the representation of new life in disregarded material. The collection will piece together elements of yarn work and lingerie along with beaded embellishments, completed by hand, to illustrate the process of decomposition in an artistic and wearable form. By embodying elements of both the bursting flourish and stark sparsity of decomposition, the collection aims to convey a story of the varying stages while still looking glamorous in the process.esign.
