ARTIST STATEMENT
RIDE is an interview-based research exploration of Canadian cycling culture. Through extensive interviews with cycling enthusiasts, medical professionals, lawyers, bike shops, Canadian cycling brands, Canadian cycling apparel brands, cycling advocacy groups and associations, RIDE paints a picture of the diverse cycling community in Canada. All interviews were formatted into a publication that creatively explores and unifies my passion for cycling, and the outdoor industry as a whole, with my passion for publication design. RIDE provides insight from industry professionals and outlines what Canadian cycling culture currently looks like, what barriers it faces and what individuals hope the community can look like. Cycling is inclusive, freeing and inspiring. My hope is that RIDE encourages others to get out and explore new places on a bike in whatever form that may be.
