ARTIST STATEMENT
“Photography grants us access into spaces we would otherwise never be able to enter. Welcome, to the space of intimate connection between identical twins Lauren and Amanda Brunswick.
Revealing authenticity by capturing in-between moments as they arise amidst the every day is what my work is rooted in. Capturing these fleeting, un-everyday moments buried in the mundane unveils the richness and complexity of life and human connection.
With a framework rooted in existentialism that prioritizes looking to every day to understand basic human predicament rather than to complex scientific frameworks; ‘Amanda’ is beginning to answer my existential questions about authenticity and intimacy; whether it can be made tangible and what affects perceiving an authentic moment outside of the present has.
Perceiving others in a moment of presence is necessary to recognize the agency we have in our lives, as it’s impossible to observe ourselves in these moments.”
