ARTIST STATEMENT
“Thru Space & Time” is a costuming series consisting of five costumes, each reflecting eccentric twists on different decades of fashion by melding and distorting views of “classic beauty” and blending vintage fashion with the absurdity of science fiction and the abject.
This collection draws from a handful of inspiring sources, such as pulp horror, historical research on vintage fashion, abject and absurdist art, and the creepy, crawly and slimy creatures we commonly fear here on earth.
The universe is incredibly vast, and what may lie beyond earth is an intriguing mystery. Thru Space and Time tells a new-age story of otherworldly beings caught in their respective earthly eras, maintaining the beauty standards of their own planets – that perhaps challenge or celebrate concepts we humans typically discourage.
