ARTIST STATEMENT
Art is subjective; it is based on individual perception, experience, and interpretation. The creative process varies from person to person because of the various stages of creative work. Connecting with our experiences, emotions, and thoughts in each stage helps us become better designers and anticipate possible challenges in future projects. The challenges we overcome help us gain confidence to create our best work even when we lack inspiration or experience burnout.
“Art in Process” is a visual exploration of my autoethnographic research inspired by Graham Wallas’ four-stage model – preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification; it is represented in a series of books that showcase photography, graphic design, and typography. I allow vulnerability to surface throughout the process and let these emotions guide me through the creative process.
